The Coors Cowboy Club Cattle Drive is set for Thursday.

By Chip Chandler — Digital Content Producer

Cowpokes will drive longhorn cattle through downtown Amarillo on Thursday to kick off Coors Cowboy Club Ranch Rodeo weekend.

The cattle drive begins at 6 p.m. Thursday at 11th Avenue and Polk Street. Cattle will meander north on Polk to Third Avenue and turn east, traveling to Marrs Street. From there, they'll go south to 10th Avenue, then east all the way to the Tri-State Fairgrounds main arch.

The drive will take between 30 minutes and an hour.

As the longhorns make their way to the fairgrounds — where the rodeo will be held Friday and Saturday — onlookers are encouraged to take photos and video for a contest.

Photos and videos may be taken from any vantage point along the cattle drive, but no one will be allowed onto the street. Photos must be 300 dpi, and videos must be no longer than one minute.

Photos should be submitted to newmedia@amarillo.com, and links to videos (which must be hosted on a reliable service like YouTube or Vimeo) should be submitted to dan@visitamarillo.com. Deadline is 6 p.m. June 13.

The winning photographer and videographer each will receive $500.
