Dust off that trumpet. Warm up those lips.
The Amarillo College Community Concert Band is looking for fresh blood.
The ensemble currently boasts 40 members, including teachers, doctors, retirees, students and more, said new director Kellie Bartley.
"This is truly a community band," Bartley said. "People who have played and miss playing, and feel like they want to but are afraid they're not good enough."
The band rehearses from 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays and performs in two concerts per semester. Up first is a Nov. 6 concert in the AC Concert Hall Theatre.
Daycare is available.
"I hadn't played French horn in over a decade when I decided to join the AC Band and was a little nervous to start again," band member Allie Bryan said. "But after the first rehearsal, I knew I made the right decision. I've had a lot of fun and I'm so glad I signed up."
Registration in a continuing education course is required. Enrollment fee is $56 per semester.
