Applications sought for Amarillo Community Market vendors for 2017 season

Vendors are sought for the 2017 Amarillo Community Market.

Applications for vendors at the 2017 Amarillo Community Market will be accepted beginning Friday.

The market, organized by community members in coordination with Center City of Amarillo and the City of Amarillo, attracted about 75 vendors and 300 visitors weekly during its inaugural season downtown. At its peak, the market saw more than 80 vendors in a week.

Vendors can apply for spots at the market's website, www.amarillocommunitymarket.com.

The season will run June 10 to Oct 14, typically on the grounds of the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce, 1000 S. Polk St. Special events on Polk, including the Komen Race for the Cure, the Harley Party, the Tri-State Fair parade and other events, can cause the market to move to the parking lot of the Santa Fe Building, 900 S. Polk St. Market hours are 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturdays.

The market is open to local farmers, gardeners, craft food producers, artisans, food trucks, artists and others. Products must be handcrafted or handmade and come from a 150-mile radius of Amarillo.

Volunteer also are sought to help with set-up and breakdown; to lead classes on food, nutrition or fitness; to perform live music or as DJs; or to ask backyard gardeners to consider selling produce.
